Purpose and scope

AI used in electricity generation, transmission and distribution; gas distribution; energy pipelines and storage; renewable integration; microgrids; demand response; smart metering; energy trading with operational effects; and AI-enabled operational-technology security.

This package calibrates incident classification under the Unified AI Incident Framework (UAIF™) v1.0. It does not replace UAIF, applicable law, a safety-management system, or an organisation's emergency and incident-response procedures.

Status and validation boundary

Provisional and controlled

Version 1.0 is provisional pending empirical inter-rater validation. The source document states that provisional weights must not be used as the sole basis for regulatory reporting, certification or consequential decisions.

Sector risk context

Energy AI links digital decisions to physical infrastructure. Public risk themes include service loss, unsafe equipment state, cascading interdependency, environmental release, market distortion, delayed operator intervention, and loss of operational view or control.

Public extraction boundary

This overview intentionally excludes controlled calibration weights, scoring parameters, worked cases, validation instruments, evidence datasets and machine-readable implementation artefacts.

Regulatory and operational routing

Potential reporting routes include energy and critical-infrastructure regimes, NIS2, the EU AI Act, privacy law, and jurisdiction-specific safety or environmental requirements. UAIF severity does not itself determine whether a statutory notification is required.

Public sector orientation

Representative classification concerns include physical safety, grid or network stability, environmental harm, market operations, critical infrastructure and cascading disruption. These themes help teams scope incident intake and analysis; they are not calibration weights, legal conclusions or an exhaustive risk list.

Use with the UAIF layers

  • Establish incident identity, provenance and remediation state.
  • Separate cause, manifestation, acute harm and chronic-harm proxies.
  • Apply severity and context logic with the provisional calibration status visible.
  • Record sector and jurisdiction metadata for human review and routing.
  • Preserve uncertainty, contrary evidence and the version of every referenced artifact.

The detailed package, calibration weights, scoring implementation, evidence logic and maintenance material are confidential commercial resources governed by UAIF-LIC-003 and applicable GEL terms.
