Sector risk context
Transport and logistics AI encompasses the widest physical-harm surface of any sector outside healthcare. Aviation autopilot AI, autonomous-vehicle decision systems, rail traffic-management AI, and maritime route-optimisation systems make real-time safety-critical decisions where failure can cause mass-casualty incidents. Physical harm and economic harm (supply-chain disruption) are the primary elevated vectors. The EU AI Act classifies AI for transport safety management as high-risk under Annex III §4, creating mandatory conformity-assessment obligations.
